While the fourth-grade class is adapting well to their schedule of classes and to the homework routine, I am adapting to teaching a self-contained classroom for the first time! The students have been training their teacher! What a great bunch of kids they are with their keen insights, eagerness to learn, witty humor, and sweet personalities!
Most of you know me because I’ve taught one or more of your older children. Here’s a brief autobiography for those of you who don’t. Born and raised in Ohio, I attended a Catholic elementary school, public high school, and Methodist college. At Ohio Northern University, I met Fritz, my husband. Together we pioneered to Nebraska and settled west of town where we discovered a small, empty farmhouse into which we moved – free rent in exchange for caring for a shorthorn herd of cattle. During this time, I taught four years at the old St. Patrick School before staying at home and starting a family of seven sons and one daughter. Twenty plus years later, after homeschooling for more than a dozen years, I returned to teach at the new St. Patrick School where I’ve taught my former students’ children!
