Mrs. Kelly Smith
Hi! My Name is Mrs. Kelly Smith. I have taught for 39 years and in different districts across the state. I grew up on the farm 10 miles southwest of Wallace, Nebraska. After graduating from Kearney State College, I started teaching in central Nebraska in the heart of the sandhill's in Ord and Burwell. My family and I moved to the panhandle for my husband's job transfer. We moved back home to Wallace as we realized the best place ever to raise a family was in a small school with farming/ranching values! My Bachelor of Arts degree is in Special Education and I hold an Elementary endorsement. I went back to school once my own children left home and finished my Masters degree in Reading Specialist/ESL endorsement. I also am certified in Reading Recovery. I left the Wallace School district about 5 years ago to "explore the world!" I have taught in Class B schools and smaller D-2 schools. I also taught 4th grade at North American Martyrs Catholic School in Lincoln, Nebraska. I thought my husband would move to Lincoln and enjoy retirement with the Husker FB and Husker VB games so close by. Well...he planted his sandhills cowboys pretty deep and here we are. I have been firmly convinced that western Nebraska is where we are supposed to be. I will commute from Wallace each day and can thoroughly have great reflection time as I drive through the canyons and gaze at the beautiful farming country!
